Knocking In Checklist.

Cricket bat knocking-in checklist

1. Knock in the blade

☐ Use a specialist bat mallet for approximately 4 hours.

☐ Increase the force gradually, without striking hard enough to cause damage.

☐ Give the edges and toe particular attention: use glancing blows off the face to harden and round these areas.

Normal surface changes: Light opening of the grain structure and small surface abrasions can occur. These will not affect performance or durability.

CAUTION:  Never hit the edges, toe or back of the bat directly: this will cause damage. Never strike hard enough to damage the blade.

2. Test before use

☐ Test the blade with a good-quality old ball in a light net session or during throw-downs.

☐ Check for seam marks and indentations. If either occurs, carry out further knocking-in before testing again.

Once the blade passes the test, enjoy your new bat!
